ZapQuake Combo

Truly, the Lightning + Earthquake (or ZapQuake) combo is not a new strategy but I know that there are still various players that haven’t heard about it yes, moreover it is pretty overpowered If can be used at Town Hall 8 so I’ve decided to talk about this today.

ZapQuake Strategy

What is ZapQuake Strategy? How does it work?

This strategy is pretty simple. The goal of it is taking down as many Air Defenses as possible so you can get 3 stars easily with your Dragon army.

The main idea is either dropping 2 Lightning Spells on 1, 2 or 3 Air Defenses to reduce their HP to under a decent %HP (based on the below table). After that, drop the Earthquake to rip them off. Of course the Earthquake Spell can cover all those Air Defenses (4×4 tiles).

Some notes for you before using ZapQuake

  • Because of the Lightning Spell Patterns, this trick just works If the Air Defenses are placed either next to each other or in front of the Town Hall orientation. It also works If two ADs are in a line and have no more than 2 tiles distance.
  • Practice couples of times before doing the real attack in Clan Wars!
  • At Town Hall 10, Lightning Spell level 6 is good enough to do ZapQuake.

The chart below shows you the levels of 2 Lightning Spells you need to ravage each Air Defense level.

For example:

  • You need 2xΒ level 5 Lightning Spells and 1 level 3 Earthquake Spell in order to take down the level 7 Air Defenses at Town Hall 9.
  • You can use 2x level 6 Lightning Spells + 1 level 1 Earthquake Spell to ravage the level 8 Air Defenses at Town Hall 10.

      • will do, as soon as i get my dragons to level4 – I’ll check if there’s a chance that a th9 would have all air defenses close to each other – 3 Lightning Spells, 1 Earthquake and 1 Rage might do the trick. but I guess it’s gonna be rare to see 3/4 AD(s) close to each other though.

          • Wow great! Looking forward to that, better to save on Dark Elixer. I’m Currently Doing HoGoWiWi, Consistently able to do 3stars on war, but War win bonus, isn’t enough to compensate for the DE consumption specially that I Donate golem lvl4 in our clan. T_T

  1. Caveats: Best used on AD parallel with the southeast map edge, due to lightning strike patterns. Also, when dealing with a 3-tile gap between two AD lvl6 or above and lvl5 Lightning, the destruction of both AD consistently seems much more difficult than if the tile gap was 0-2. Working on the best placement, but so far light #1 dead center, #2 up and to the left of center a tiny bit, #3 down and to the right of center a tiny bit works. Be sure to zoom in all the way and preferably use a stylus with a large screen device lol.

  2. Can 2 level 4 lightening and 2 earthquake spells take down a level 6 ad? It didn’t work for me with level one eq deployed 2 lightning then 2 eq. Would like to try with one higher eq in the donated spell slot. Thanks.

  4. Will it work if the AD are diagonal with one square of space between the corners? That is, they aren’t actually touching, but are still close. The ADs are level 6, with 3 L4 lightning and an L3 quake.

  5. Hey guys. I was just wondering if it is possible to kill a level 3 air defense with just 1 lightning and 1 (any level from my cc) quake. Because then I can knock out the other air defence with 2 lightning and 1 quake. Thanks! Please reply quickly as it is preparation day today.

  6. Can anyone plz tell me, can i break down the two lvl 6 ad with 3 lvl 5 lighting and 1 eq spell with some gaps shown as per in the image…..if yes how should i drop the lighting ?? Like all of them in middle??

  7. Is this table correct? By my math: level 1 EQ = 14% damage. Level 6 AD = 1050 hp. 14% of 1050 = 147 damage. Level 5 lightning = 450 damage. 2 level 5 lightning spells = 900 damage. 900 + 147 = 1047, which would not kill a level 6 AD. Is that right? You’d be 3 hp short of killing it?
